What is a UCM NetID?
The UCM NetID is the common sign in name that is used accross UC Merced applications. Typically, it is your email alias. For example, the UCMNetID for Mike Smith would be msmith.

I cannot log onto the Effort Reporting System.
Access to all of our financial systems is limited to the IP address originated from UC Merced locations. If you connect while away from the office you must first connect to UC Merced Virtual Private Network (VPN). Please call the UC Merced IT helpdesk (228-HELP) for assistance with VPN.

What is ERS?
ERS is the new web-based Effort Reporting System for the faculty and other researchers of the University of California.

What is Effort Reporting?
Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-21, Section J.10 requires that universities certify effort on sponsored projects. UC Merced now uses a web-based Effort Reporting System. This system is fed by the UC Payroll System; to automate PI certification of effort. Only PI's can access specific effort reports. When they do, they will see all salary and benefits charged to each of their sponsored projects.

Why Can't I Use VISA Card on Epay?
University’s current contract with VISA does not allow us to offer on-line payment options with the terms and condition identical to MasterCard, Discover and American Express card. To comply with this contractual obligation we are unable to accept VISA as a payment option on Epay.

I am driving my own vehicle on University business and it is damaged, am I insured under the University insurance program?
Your private insurance is the primary source of insurance coverage for your automobile, even when you are driving the vehicle on University business. If damages to 3rd party property exceed your limits, UC coverage is secondary to your own. If such accident occurs on University business you may be reimbursed up to $500 for your deductible or damages.

Does the University insure rented vehicles used for business?
The University maintains automobile rental agreements with various automobile rental companies for use by University faculty and staff on business-related travel. When using University agreements, liability and physical damage insurance on the rental automobiles is provided by the rental companies if:
  1. A University rental agreement is used (see the list).
  2. The driver has the University agreement number (each company has its own number) listed on their rental agreement by the rental company and identifies herself/himself as a University employee.
  3. The automobile is used on University business.

Does the University provide insurance for my vehicle when I am on my way to and from work?
No, any damage incurred to your vehicle while travelling to and from work is your responsibility.

How are vehicles owned by UC Merced insured?
There are two elements to insurance coverage for a licensed vehicle owned by UC Merced. The first is Auto Liability, which is designed to provide coverage to the Regents (and employees) when a third party files a claim and alleges negligence. The second is Auto Physical Damage, which is designed to provide coverage in the event the vehicle itself is damaged, both coverages are automatic. Departments which own vehicles are assessed an annual premium for both coverages.

How Do I Select an IDOC Printer?
  1. Logon onto OASIS.
  2. Enter PPP to access Personnel/Payroll
  3. Enter UCSA to access the System Administration Menu or enter IDDB to access the Department EDB Inquiry Menu.
  4. Enter PRNT to access the Printer Selection Menu.
  5. The cursor will be positioned in the "Number of copies" field. If you wish to print more than one copy, change the number and press enter. Otherwise, just TAB to the next field.
  6. If the printer is listed on the first page of the Printer Selection Menu, skip to the next step. Otherwise, use the F8 key to scroll forward until the printer you wish to select is displayed on the screen.
  7. Use the TAB key to position the cursor in the Selected Printer column next to the printer you wish to select and press the "Enter" key.
  8. A message should be displayed that the "Input is Accepted". Press the F9 key to update. This printer will remain as your selected printer until you select a different printer.
